In the beginning of 90s, World Sports & Marketing, which is located in Florida, included Skurfing (the ancient name of wakeboarding, also formerly known as skiboarding and kneeboarding) in the pro wakeboard competitions. ESPN and ESPN2 were assigned for providing coverage to these events. Wakeboarding magazine finally arrived in 1993 and offered an outstanding platform for this sport to gain exposure and delivered informative details to the interested athletes. Moreover, when ESPN decided to include wakeboarding in X-Games of 1996, millions of viewers from all across the globe were indoctrinated with this sport and popularity of wakeboarding immediately exploded and pros and enthusiasts continue to thrive throughout the world.
